What is Bihar Inter Caste Marriage Promotion Scheme?

Bihar Antarjatiya Vivah Protsahan Yojana has been started by the Bihar government to encourage couples who marry inter-caste. This scheme is also known as ‘Dr. Ambedkar Scheme for Social Integration through Inter Caste Marriage’. Newly married couples of the state who marry inter-caste are provided financial incentives of Rs 2.5 lakh through this scheme.

Objective of Bihar Inter-caste Marriage Promotion Scheme 2024 

The main objective of this scheme is to encourage inter-caste marriages. So that people from backward classes can get equal rights. The benefit of this scheme will be given to only those married couples in which either the husband and wife or one of them belongs to backward caste. 

Benefits of Bihar Intercaste Marriage Promotion Scheme 

1. Under this scheme, all the married couples of the state who do inter-caste marriage are provided incentive money by the government. 

2. The incentive amount provided to inter-caste married couples under this scheme is Rs 2.5 lakh. 

3. If the beneficiary provides any wrong information to avail the benefit of this scheme then he will have to return the incentive amount.  

4. This amount is sent to the account through RTGS or NEFT. 

5. After the married couple submits the pre-stamped receipt, an amount of Rs 1.5 lakh is transferred to their bank account and the remaining amount of Rs 1 lakh is given to them along with interest after 3 years. 

Eligibility required for Bihar Inter-caste Marriage Promotion Scheme 

To take advantage of this scheme started by the Bihar government, the married couple will have to fulfill certain conditions (eligibility), only then they will be able to take advantage of this scheme. 

1. To avail the benefits of this scheme, the beneficiary must be a permanent resident of Bihar state. 

2. The marriage of the married couple must be registered under the ‘Hindu Marriage Act 1955’. 

3. If the married couple is registered under any other Act then they will have to submit separate certificate. 

4. To avail the benefits of this scheme, the married couple must apply within 1 year of marriage.
